Sound technology has advanced rapidly in recent years, confusing many people.

Here’s the straight scoop: Digital technology produces a superior sound in a variety of formats including MP3 and WAV. And, of course, all CDs are fully digital.

All popular digital formats are equally acceptable. However, a problem can occur when digital files are compressed for use on laptop or iPod type systems. Too much compression can result in a loss of sound quality.

For the very best, non-compressed digital sound, the original CD is the preferred music source. However, laptops and other players are capable of producing high quality audio input provided that the data experiences little to no file compression. Unfortunately, digital files acquired by file sharing programs can suffer from excessive file compression. A company willing to show you their original CD library is less likely to experience excessive file compression.
